Communicate with those around you. You’ll feel a lot more comfortable as a model if you build a rapport with your photographer or director.
Hold a S shape. Unless directed by the photographer to do otherwise, when standing, put the mayority of your body weight on one foot only.
Leave a space between your arms and your trunk. This will accent your waist in a grat way, regardless of its size.
Show the sides of the hand only. Never display the full palm or the back of the hand.
Practice, practice, practice. Practice poses from models while researching poses in magazines from models you had like to emulate and practice them at home.
Experiment with different facial expressions. When it comes to your visage, make sure you get some variety in your shots.
Work with poses that include the torso on up. This will accent your waist in a grat way, regardless of its size. The photographer can either cut you off at your midsection for a close up photo, or you may have a surface in front of you blocking the rest of your body.
Use your eyes to convey emotion. They say the eyes are the window to the soul, so make sure to use them to your advantage.
Pay attention to your body language. Make sure your body language matches the mood or theme of the shoot. For example, if you’re going for a sultry look, make sure your body language is sensual and confident.
Don’t be afraid to take risks. Modeling is all about taking risks and trying new things. If you’re presented with an idea or concept that makes you uncomfortable, take a deep breath and try it out anyway. You never know, it could end up being your best shot!
